Mike Faber | Head Trainer
Mikey’s journey with Olé began at the age of 14 as a player! After developing through the academy and playing for the First Team, Mikey left to pursue the opportunity to play football and attend university in the United States. He spent the four years studying Business Management at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley and playing NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer.
On his return to New Zealand in 2020, Mike joined the Olé coaching staff and has quickly grown into a competent and well-liked coach in our Youth & Junior space. He has a solid understanding of the Olé learning framework and playing system having come through as a player, and brings a great relational component to his coaching. He has an OFC/NZF C-License, as well as a NZF Youth Level 2 Coaching Certificate.
Often referred to as a lion in the environment, Mikey is also a First Team regular, bringing experience and leadership into training and matches as a senior player, which is invaluable for the development of the next wave of young players coming through the academy.
Mikey sees Olé as a second family, and loves being in a football environment which shares so many of his own values.
