Mike Wilson

Mike Wilson is a former New Zealand International and Stanford University Captain. He was a member of Cardinal teams in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s that featured the likes of fellow Kiwis, Simon Elliot and Ryan Nelsen.

After graduating from Stanford in 2004 with a BA in International Relations, Mike was selected in the 2004 MLS Super Draft by the San Jose Earthquakes. Mike’s professional career covered a span of 8 years and took him across the United States with San Jose Earthquakes (MLS) and Minnesota Thunder (A-League), as well as South America with Aucas Quito (Ecuador, Serie B).

Currently, Mike is responsible for acquisitions at Wilson Investment Management. He is also a board member of Bantu Rovers FC in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The organization is dedicated to Zimbabwe football youth development, and helping student-athletes achieve their academic and football goals.

Mike began his football development as a junior at Western Suburbs and continued through the club’s ranks into the 1st Team before departing for University in the United States.

“As a former New Zealand International and professional player, Mike’s understanding of the New Zealand Football landscape and his experience around the Olé pathway make him a major driving force behind the academy and it’s vision moving forward. Mike is an integral component to the continued development of the academy; maintaining strong ties to the professional and university game in the United States. Mike is a great example for the current Olé Football Academy player with aspirations of playing at the game’s highest levels domestically and abroad.”
