Olé Football Academy will be offering an additional training opportunity for Wellington based girls footballers born 2006 – 2008. The programme’s intention is to tap into girls that are demanding more than the traditional club environment can provide. Our intention is to begin working with a group of female footballers in the Wellington region and ultimately provide them with a pathway from junior to senior football as we have done in recent years with the boy’s and men’s programmes.
In the past five years, over 40 Olé Football Academy players have graduated from the academy’s ranks and are continuing their football careers in semi – professional environments, professional clubs and on athletic and academic university scholarships abroad. We know that this same type of success can be replicated in the women’s game; however, it begins with investing in a foundation of young players and families committed to a consistent training environment where girls have the opportunity to become the best they are capable of becoming.
The programme is open to girls of all skill levels from all clubs in the Wellington region. Training sessions will take place every Tuesday from 4:30 – 5:45 pm @ The Olé Football Academy and alongside the current Young Olé 2 training squad. The programme will begin as soon as 12 – 14 girls are registered and will run through the club football season with potential extension into the summer months. At the moment, we are hesitant to set costs as the main objective is to get a committed group of girls training and playing together regularly The Olé Way. The girls will be coached by a combination of Olé female and male staff members with experience playing at the highest levels of amateur football in New Zealand and NCAA soccer in the United States.
