Paul Whitmarsh | Development Phase D15 Coach
Paul began coaching at the academy in 2023 and is an experienced coach and former player. Before embarking on his coaching journey Paul played over 20 seasons of Senior Football, including playing in the UK, with Team Wellington in the New Zealand National League, he was also part of a successful Western Suburbs team that won the Central League and the Chatham Cup.
After his playing days were over Paul started his coaching journey and now has over a decade of experience coaching at Junior, Youth, and Senior levels, including in the Central League. He currently coaches within the Development phase of the Academy and primarily works with the D17 training group. Paul holds an OFC C-License coaching qualification and is working towards completing his OFC B-License in 2024.
Paul’s coaching philosophy is based around delivering challenging training environments that provide a bridge for the aspiring youth players of the Academy to transition into senior football. He encourages players to express themselves by playing attacking expansive football, to play without fear, and to learn from their mistakes whilst always working hard for themselves and their team.
