Mike Wilson | General Manger

Growing up in Porirua, Mike has had a solid football background over the course of his life. Starting out early in his chosen career path and playing for Western Suburbs for his Junior and Senior years, Mike has been instrumental to the football community at large and for his country of New Zealand. While excelling in his personal and team performances as a youth and young man, Mike now oversees the Olé Football Academy as General Manager, directing the academy’s operations and administration with over 180 players annually, since 2010.

He was an integral player for the Central League’s winning squads in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s and played with the U17 and U20 secondary school teams of New Zealand. He also played for New Zealand’s national team from 2003 – 2006. With his personal dream and having a close eye on playing in the United States of America, Mike landed himself at the prestigious school of Stanford University in California, completing his undergrad degree in International Relations, graduating in 2004.

After university, Mike continued his playing career for Team Wellington, (former National League structure), from 2004 – 2006. He went on to play in the professional game in North America for Minnesota Thunder and then South America for SD Aucas before finding his way back to Porirua, New Zealand.

Along the journey, Mike met his lovely wife Keely, from Cleveland, Ohio, at Stanford and they married in 2010. Over the course of the last decade and a half, they have called home and have straddled their time between California and New Zealand. Mike and Keely share two beautiful daughters who are taking after their father with his love of football. Both girls train at Olé FA.
