Olé Football Academy and Western Suburbs goalkeeper Quillian Roberts has been called up once more to the Guyana National Team as they return to the Concacaf Nations League tournament, round two. The Golden Jaguars will travel to face Puerto Rico in Saint Kitts and Nevis for exciting matches beginning on Saturday, October 14th.
The Golden Jaguars are in League B, Group D with 16 teams in League B which are back for another two matches each.
Guyana and challenger Puerto Rico head up the group with six points each and will play each other twice, with both matches taking place in Saint Kitts and Nevis beginning on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 15:30 ET local time. Those two teams also boast the top two goal scorers in League B, with Guyana’s Omari Glasgow having four goals to his name. Guyana’s second game of this round is on October 17th at 16:00 ET local time.
“I am excited for another call-up to the Guyana national team and looking forward to a fight for the top spot in the group!,” said Roberts. “We have everything to fight for and I feel like we’ll perform well and hopefully it’s enough to help us reach our goal of qualifying for the gold cup and promotion to tier A in the Nations League!”.
This is Roberts second international call up to Guyana since debuting with Western Suburbs in New Zealand in March 2023. The 29 year old, born in Toronto, Canada and having also previously represented Canada at both the youth and senior level, had scored as a keeper from his own half in one of three appearances during the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2011.
