Two years ago, Olé Football Academy began a new Community Football initiative, kicking off a monthly Friday night Street Football event at Waitangirua Mall, in Porirua.
Fast forward to 2020, this event has become a popular staple in the community, attracting lots of local young people of all backgrounds and their whānau and friends. Each month, when the team arrive to set up, they are greeted by excited players who have arrived early, running up to the Olé FA vans to say hi and help carry the gear!
As well as providing a great opportunity to be active and access sport in the community, it has been amazing to see the long-term relationships and connections built between young people, families and the Olé FA players and coaches who are at the event each month.
So, of course, Olé FA are stoked to be bringing Street Football BACK again for it’s third year!
Same place, same time, same great vibes. There will be the usual open play street football style games, music from Porirua local DJ Vinnz, food, drink, and giveaways!
This is a FREE event and open to any local young people, no football experience is required, just come and give it a go, and bring your friends!

A huge thanks to Porirua City Council who make it possible to run this event, allowing the use of Waitangirua Mall basketball courts, Kaibosh Food Rescue who donate food and drink each month, friends at Puma NZ who supply prizes and giveaways, and of course ONE Foundation who provide continuous support to Olé FA to keep running initiatives like this for the Porirua community and it’s people.
