The Olé Football Academy believes in the potential of young New Zealand footballers. Since our inception in 1997, our mission has been to create an environment where the New Zealand player can flourish and reach their full potential. This mission remains at the forefront of our mind.
A necessary element in any youth development environment is access to pathways. In football world, pathways are synonymous with opportunities. Opportunities allow for continued growth and development, and a stage for players to showcase their talents to the world. As an organization, we take great pride in offering many pathway opportunities to our players: Whether it’s on the pitch at Western Suburbs in the Central League, with Eastern Suburbs in the ISPS Handa National League, or on the pitch/in the classroom at top US Universities.
In recent weeks, Olé Football Academy introduced a new European stage for our players, by partnering with Swedish club, Torslanda IK. We have identified this as a crucial next step in our development curriculum.
This pathway into Europe is unlike others. It is a trusted pathway designed for the New Zealand player, run by New Zealanders, and backed by Olé Football Academy.
Declan Edge (Olé FA’s Director of Football), will be on the ground in Sweden leading the implementation of the Torslanda project. Assisting Declan, is Olé alumnus and New Zealand International, Dan Keat. Dan is joining the Olé team after having spent the past decade playing professionally with the LA Galaxy (USA), Falkenberg (SWE), and GAIS (SWE). His football experience will soon extend further as he works to earn his UEFA A coaching license through the Swedish FA.
In addition to Dan, the project will be propelled by Harry Edge and Owen Parker-Price. Harry and Owen are two of Olé’s most experienced players, whose leadership will be paramount to Torslanda IK.

We could not be more excited for Declan, Dan, Harry, and Owen who set off on this European venture. We also would like thank the Olé Football Academy and Western Suburbs communities for their continued support, and for allowing us the opportunity to help young footballers reach their potential.
