Olé are stoked to share news of the latest addition to the team, welcoming Ben Stroud on board!
Ben was born and raised in Christchurch, and has arrived at Olé ahead of the 2021 season. He’s come on as the Community Football Coordinator, looking after all of Olé’s grassroots initiatives around the Porirua community, including the Football in Schools Programme, Street Football and Cannons Creek Fun Football. He’s also looking after the Olé x Western Suburbs Skills Centre.
After spending four years in the USA playing NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer at Missouri State University, Ben has been playing at the highest level in New Zealand for the Canterbury United Dragons in the ISPS Handa Premiership.
As well as running Community Football, Ben is here to play! He’s a senior player in the Olé training and playing environment, and will play in the Central League, pursuing his own improvement, while also being a great role model and influence on the group of up and coming younger players.
Olé Technical Director, Ben Sippola, commented “Ben is a great addition to the Olé staff and our group of players. He’s already made great connections with everyone and is adding value at any opportunity he gets. We’re definitely pumped to have him here with us.”
Ben has said he’s come to Olé because he thought it would be the best opportunity for him to to pursue his goals on and off the pitch. He recognised Olé has a great reputation and is a fantastic platform based on the track record and history.
“I’m really excited about the environment here and the professionalism that Olé has an an organisation. I’m looking forward to getting involved with the football here and giving back to the community.”
Welcome, Ben! We’re looking forward to the year ahead with you on board!
