From Football to Physics, Olé Values Help Graduate to Scholarship

Olé Football Academy graduate, Sasha Sneyd, has just been awarded the prestigious Rutherford Scholarship, which will fully-fund his PhD research at Cambridge University.

The focus of his research will be finding methods of cheaper and more efficient solar energy. Sasha credits Olé Football Academy for helping shape his work ethic and his relentless mentality.

“At Olé they teach you to have a vision, for example ‘I want to be a professional footballer’, so I think it’s the same thing, you just change professional footballer to professional scientist and I think that really helped me.”

“The people who work the hardest are usually the ones who get there, because there is a lot of stuff that doesn’t rely on being smart, it’s just about pulling finger, so that’s quite similar [to football].
