Olé is excited to share the news that Jarrod McKechnie has committed to Liberty University. He’ll head off to Virginia later in 2021 to begin the next part of his journey, playing NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer and continuing his education.
Coming off the back of a National League season with Hawkes Bay United, Jarrod is entering his third year in competitive men’s football and this will be a great challenge for him in a new environment. Olé are confident Liberty will be the right fit for Jarrod, who will be playing under Olé Technical Director Ben Sippola’s former Head Coach, Kelly Findley.
Liberty has amazing facilities, and the team has been going from strength to strength, currently ranked in the top 15 in the USA.
“Jarrod is an all-round mid-field engine, who’s great in all phases of the game. Jarrod brings all-important balance to any team he’s part of and is always one of the hardest working players,” said Ben Sippola.
Jarrod has been with Olé Football Academy and playing for Western Suburbs since he was 12 years old, so after more than 6 years of having him around, the players and staff are certainly going to miss him! He has amazing character and we’ve loved watching him develop over these years.
Jarrod said, “I’m excited to be joining Liberty as it brings great opportunities to continue to grow and get better. This is especially shown by seeing what some of the other boys from Olé have gone onto do after being at university.”
Go rock it, Jarrod!Tags: Jarrod Mckechnie
