Joel Zimmerly

A proud Canadian, Joel Zimmerly joined Olé from the arctic tundra of Winnipeg, Manitoba. At the age of 15, no longer capable of withstanding the ice and snow and watching ice hockey, Joel made a deliberate decision to move South of the border to Minnesota.

He received a scholarship to nationally recognised boarding school, and United States Football Development Academy (USDA), Shattuck St. Mary’s.

After his time in residence at Shattuck, Joel spent 4 years at Butler University (NCAA Division 1). He played football and studied English Literature graduating with honours.

Joel also serves as Olé’s Director of Grassroots Programmes and is the Western Suburbs Reserve team Head Coach.

“Joel is a fantastic addition to our staff. He is young, ambitious and as enthusiastic as they come. From his time spent in residence at Shattuck St. Marys and in the U.S. university system at the highest level, Joel brings invaluable experience to the academy regarding his knowledge around the high demands placed on the student – footballer. Joel adds a new dimension to the mentorship programme for Young Olé Academy players.”

Warning: If asked, never play “Street-Ball Joel” in a game of basketball. He can get a bit nasty.
