Due to COVID-19, Olé had to push pause on Community Football programmes, including Football in Schools, Street Football and the mid-week Cannons Creek Football League.

Now, the Community Football team are back in action, and having more fun than ever!

The Football in Schools coaching team, which is made up of local Young Olé players, and led by Community Football Coordinator Tyla Ahern, have been having a blast running programmes in both Natone Park and Postgate Schools.

This term, the team are running weekly sessions at Brandon Intermediate, and love coaching such engaged and positive students. Last week, Olé were also able to donate Brandon some football gear, including balls and pop-up goals, so that they can continue to enjoy their football and practice their new skills!

As well as Football in Schools, Olé will be back with Street Football for the first time since lockdown, this Friday 7 August at Waitangirua Mall from 6 – 7.30PM.

This is a popular event, filled with football, food, music from Porirua’s own DJ Vinnz, prizes, giveaways and heaps of fun. Make sure you come down and take part!

Term 4 will also see the return of the Olé Skill Builders – A weekly programme for children aged 6-12 years to experience football, and develop skills in a relaxed, fun, inclusive environment.

If you are interested in having Football in Schools run at your school, please feel free to reach out to Olé Community Football Coordinator Tyla Ahern: [email protected]
