Olé Football Academy and Samba Futsal have partnered to provide a curriculum that brings Wellington’s best in football and futsal together.
Futsal is an important developmental tool for young players in New Zealand as it teaches skills that are transferable from the court to the football pitch; decision making, footwork, vision, ball control. The tighter space gives players a lot more touches on the ball, but also challenges their skills and control.
With our intention to get more players playing football in 2018, this programme is club unaffiliated, so anyone is welcome to sign up.
The Olé Football Academy – Samba Futsal Partnership commences on the third Monday of March and concludes the last Monday of August in conjunction with the club football season. The programme is open to players born 2008 – 2011. The programme will be capped at 18 – 20 players per each 1 – hour training slot. Players already part of the Olé Football Academy – Western Suburbs Football Club Partnership do not need to register for the futsal programme. Players will not always train in their group by birth year as as physiology, skill level, etc… will be taken into consideration. Training times and groups are subject to change.
