Olé Overseas Player Update May 2018

EUROPE

In Portugal’s Primeira Liga, Tyler Boyd been a shining light for Tondela. In the last 6 games, he has 2 goals and 4 assists. In this string of games, Tondela knocked off Benfica, 3-2 in front of a 50,000 strong Benfica home crowd.

Ryan Thomas and PEC Zwolle haven’t had the greatest second half to their season. After a very bright first half of the season, the team has struggled to string together consistent results. Also in The Netherlands, Jesse Edge with Achilles ’29 have not had a season to remember. They have been unable to register a win in their last 8 games.

Tyler Lissette has picked up where he left off last season with IFK Värnamo. In their last 4 games, Lissette has been instrumental in a defensive unit that has kept 3 clean sheets.

In Norway, Aaron Jones and Asker FC have started their season strongly with 3 wins out of 4 matches. Aaron has started all 4 games.

In Spain, Josh Greene has joined up with Sean Morris, both former Olé Academy players, signing with CD Almuñecar City. CD Almuñecar City is considered a stepping stone club which is a great opportunity for Josh to progress after he recently graduated from Seattle University after spending 4 years there on scholarship.

AMERICA

In the MLS, Elliot Collier has continued his strong start to the season where he has started in 7 of Chicago Fire’s 10 games. Chicago’s results have been up and down so far this season.

In Texas, Kyle Adams has been racking up the minutes for Rio Grande Valley FC in a tough start to their USL season. In their previous 5 matches, Kyle and the RGV defence has managed to keep 3 clean sheets.

Cory Brown has had to be patient in his search for minutes at Fresno FC. He had one start in April against St Louis FC.

NEW ZEALAND

Olé Academy and Western Suburbs First Team have welcomed back the services of Owen Parker-Price, Callum McCowatt and Dalton Wilkins from Auckland City after a successful National League season. Ihaia Delaney has returned from his Freshmen year at Lipscomb University, likewise, Mikey Faber has also returned after his Sophomore year at University of Texas RGV where they are on athletic scholarships in America.
