US University eligible game

Olé Football Academy

This past month two of the premier United States men’s footballing universities, The Ohio State University and The University of Louisville: NCAA Division 1, visited the Olé Football Academy campus to view and recruit prospective Student – Athletes for the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes.

In addition to watching a number of Olé Football Academy training sessions and Western Suburbs 1st Team and Reserve Team Games, the university coaches were able to watch a US university eligible game (players with amateur status and NCEA level 3 completion) composed of university eligible players from the Olé Football Academy and wider Wellington Region.

Players from Petone, Karori, Lower Hutt, Napier and the Wellington Phoenix made up an all university eligible side put together to play against an all university eligible side from The Olé Football Academy.

The game was played in fantastic fashion in good spirit with two teams having a good crack at each other.

The full game and highlights of the game can be viewed on the Olé Football Academy YouTube page (Part One, Part Two, Part Three). Be sure to check out the two world class goals scored by Olé Football Academy’s Tim Rawiri.
