Xavier Green Signs NLI to Ohio State University

Olé Football Academy and Western Suburbs player, Xavier Green has signed his National Letter of Intent to play NCAA Division 1 soccer for the Ohio State Buckeyes Men’s Soccer team.

Xavier has committed many years to his development at Olé Academy and has been a great student and leader within the Academy setting a great example for younger players and also his peers. His consistent performances in the 2017 Central League caught the eye of Ohio State Mens Soccer Coach, John Bleum. Coach Bleum was looking to address an issue within his 2017 Buckeyes squad where he felt his team’s “inability to create and score goalswas a problem last season. “As with any team a player who brings something special to the attack is very valuable. It is our belief that Xavier has the ability to create opportunities.”

In 2017, the Buckeyes finished with 8 wins, 10 losses and a single draw. “We were a very solid team that lacked a big time finisher,” Bleum said. He believes that 2018 will be a different story. “Through recruiting and the addition of a couple of players that did not play last year due to injury I think we have addressed those concerns.”

Green will head to Columbus, Ohio in August to join up with his new teammates. Bleum will have the services of Green and a few more new attacking players this season with his hopes of Green being able to contribute in the attacking third through his ability to create and also convert chances.

We look forward to having Xavier’s services for another Central League season before he heads off on a new challenge.
